فارسی: اربعین در لغت به معنی چهلم است و در اصطلاح اسلامی، یک مراسم مذهبی شیعی است که بیستم صفر ۶۱ هجری قمری چهل روز پس از روز عاشورا، روز کشته‌شدن حسین بن علی نوه محمد، فرزند علی بن ابی طالب و فاطمه زهرا و امام سوم شیعیان در کربلا برگزار می‌گردد.
English: Arbaʽein Or Chehellom is a Shiite religious observance that occurs forty days after the Day of Ashura.
Español: Arbain, Chehelom. Es una observancia religiosa chiita, que ocurre 40 días después del día de Ashura, la conmemoración del martirio del nieto del profeta Mahoma, el tercer imán de los chiitas: Husáyn ibn Ali.
