Do século XIX, é de arquitectura romântica. Inicialmente teve como nome a Porta de Tempre, em referência ao combate da Ordem do Templo contra os Mouros, tendo rompido a muralha por este lado. Supostamente trata-se de um episódio lendário, daí a construção do arco.
