Português: As Formosas Ilhas de Portugal Encerramento das comemorações do V Centenário da Descoberta da Madeira Alexandre da Cunha Teles (Funchal, 15 maio 1891; Lisboa, 18 mar. 1936), advogado, escritor e filantropo, era filho do general Norberto Jaime Teles (1852-1936) e de D. Margarida da Cunha Teles, tendo casado com Anne Kristine Stephanie Wera Beranger Cohen (1900-1985), dinamarquesa, cantora lírica e professora de canto, que estudara em Paris e sido pais da pintora Martha Telles (1930-2001) e outros. Na p. 2 as palavras de Alexandre da Cunha Teles no Terreiro da Luta (1891-1936) na homenagem feita no Terreiro da Luta, em janeiro de 1923, aos conselheiros açorianos Drs. Luiz Bettencourt de Medeiros e Câmara (1873-1939) e José Tavares Bruno Carreiro (1880-1957), que haviam integrado a delegação daquele arquipélago às comemorações do V Centenário da Descoberta da Madeira. Discursaram várias pessoas e, entre elas, Alexandre da Cunha Teles, referindo o DN, “com o seu natural entusiasmo e elevação de frase, sendo muito aplaudido”, que apelou, especialmente, para a união entre os dois arquipélagos, sem o que, dificilmente, seriam ouvidos em Lisboa, acrescentando: (mas) “se a ideia da autonomia mais ampla não nos tivesse trazido outra coisa senão esta visita, teríamos de bem-dizer sempre essa ideia pelo valor que ela representa para nós”. |
