Nederlands: Romeyn de Hooghe (1645-1708) graveerde omstreeks 1685 in opdracht van de uitgever Nicolaes Visscher II (1649-1702) een serie prenten van de beroemde tuin van Enghien, even ten zuiden van Brussel. Een vast onderdeel van zon groot park was het labyrinth. Over kunstig aangelegde paden moest de bezoeker tussen hoge en dichtgegroeide hagen door zijn weg naar het middelpunt van het doolhof zien te zoeken. Daar kreeg men, als beloning, een fraai gezicht op de prachtige fontein van de zeenimf Amphitrite, de gemalin van Neptunus.; Rechtsonder aan de prent N. Samen op 1 blad met (N.)
English: The print shows the complex of pleasure gardens of Enghien near Brussels. The plan is part of a series of prints commissioned by Nicolaes Visscher II (1649-1702) and engraved by Romeyn de Hooghe (1645-1708). A labyrinth was an invariable attraction in such pleasure gardens. Walking over artfully designed pathways and between thick grown hedges visitors had to find the core of the labyrinth. There they were rewarded with a view on a beautiful fountain with sea nymph Amphitrite, wife of Neptune.
