Description
Nederlands: Het huis Zwanenburg was het gemeenlandshuis van het hoogheemraadschap van Rijnland te Halfweg. In Halfweg lag een groot sluizencomplex dat door het hoogheemraadschap werd beheerd. Het huis werd tussen 1644 en 1648 naar een ontwerp van de architect Pieter Post gebouwd langs de pas voltooide trekvaart tussen Amsterdam en Haarlem. Het huis was de vaste woonplaats van de opzichter van Rijnland te Halfweg en een veel gebruikte vergader- en verblijfplaats van de hoogheemraden van Rijnland.; Centraal op de kaart een groot aangezicht van het huis Zwanenberg. Rechtsonder Korte verklaringe, op de Aenteickeninge. Daaronder een opdracht van Pieter Post aan het bestuur van het hoogheemraadschap van Rijnland.
English: The House Zwanenburg was the town hall of the polder district of Rijnland in the town of Halfweg. In Halfweg the complex of sluices was managed by the polder district. The house was built along a recently finished canal between Amsterdam and Haarlem after a design by architect Pieter Post between 1644 en 1648. The house was inhabited by the supervisor of Rijnland in Halfweg and it often served as meeting place for the polder district of Rijnland.
