Das Gebäude der historische Stadtmetzgerei wurde von Elias Holl zwischen 1606 und 1609 im Stil der Spätrenaissance geschaffen. Es war eine zentrale Schlachterei, von der aus die Metzger der Stadt mit Fleisch versorgt wurden. Das Gebäude steht im Lechviertel am Metzgerplatz. The building of the historic town of Elias Holl butcher was built from 1606 to 1609 in the style of the late Renaissance. It was a central abattoir, were supplied the butchers of the city with meat. The building is located in Lech district court at the Metzger Platz.

Die Stadt wurde 15 v. Chr von Kaiser Augustus als Castro gegründet. Der Name Augsburg geht auf die spätere römische Provinzhauptstadt Augusta Vindelicorum oder Augusta Vindelicum zurück. Augsburg gehört damit zu den ältesten Städten Deutschlands.

The city was founded in 15 BC by Emperor Augustus as Castro. The name goes back to the later Roman provincial capital Vindelicorum Augusta or Augusta Vindelicum. Augsburg is one of the oldest cities in Germany.
