Description
Deutsch: Die Statue stellt den ein Opfer darbringenden Kaiser Augustus als Pontifex Maximus dar, der mit bedecktem Haupt in einer traditionellen Toga und mit Patrizierschuhen (calcei patricii) gekleidet ist. Neben dem linken Bein befindet sich ein Behälter (capsa), der zur Aufbewahrung amtlicher Dokumente dient. Der Kopf mit seinen realistischen Zügen, ist als ein separates Stück gearbeitet und auf dem Torso eingefügt. Die Statue, die allgemein als ein Werk der späten augusteischen Zeit betrachtet wird, stammt wahrscheinlich aus dem letzten Jahrzehnt des 1. Jahrhunderts v. Chr.
