Summary

[edit]
Description
English:
Hannah Szenes (1921–1944) by Zsófia Fáskerti (2021 bronze bust, installed in 2022). In front and behind it there is a prominent foreground writing, which gives a brief information about the life of the Hungarian poet, British paratrooper of Jewish origin, Israeli national hero, and a poem can be read on it. Hanna Szenes was born and raised in District II, from where she emigrated to Palestine to return to her homeland at the end of World War II. A young woman trained by the British army parachuted down to attempt to prevent the deportation of Hungarian Jews, but was captured and executed in the courtyard of the Margaret Boulevard jail (the jail, now destroyed building stand opposite Széna Square). - Széna Square, Víziváros neighborhood, 2nd district of Budapest.
