Español: Esta obra es una de las Inmaculadas de Bartolomé Esteban Murillo con aspecto más juvenil, lo que la vincula con la tradición sevillana del también pintor sevillano Francisco de Zurbarán, y con las recomendaciones sobre la representación de este tema manifestadas por Francisco Pacheco en su Arte de la pintura, que escribió en 1649. Además, hay varios dibujos preparatorios para esta obra ejecutados por Murillo, lo que demuestra que el pintor sevillano se preparó concienzudamente para ejecutarla, y es conocida como Inmaculada del Escorial porque aparece citada por primera vez en las colecciones reales del monasterio de El Escorial en 1788, durante el reinado de Carlos IV de España.
