Title
base of hexagonal lead steelyard weight
Description
English: Cast lead hexagonal lead steelyard weight or poise with the remains of its integral iron loop corroded into a circular accretion on the surface. On the opposite side there is a small perforation about 3 mm in diameter. This steelyard weight is likely to be Medieval as it is crudely formed with irregular sides, and not spherical like Roman lead steelyard weights. It weighs 110.21g which equates to about 4 ounces averdepois.
