| Description | Built in the 100s AD, these public baths were built by Flavius Damianus and his wife, Ephesus Vedius Antonius, during the Roman period. The baths remained in use during the Byzantine period, before being abandoned along with the surrounding city after the harbor silted up, leading to an exodus of the population and the economic activity that once sustained the city. The baths were excavated in modern times. The ruins of the ancient city of Ephesus were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015. |
