Title
Bell
Description
English: An incomplete and damaged circular copper-alloy sheet spherical bell of Medieval date. It is missing its lower half and pea due to old breaks, now worn.

There is a flanged seam line where the two halves would have originally been joined together. At the top is a separate copper-alloy loop. This is inserted upwards through a hole cut in the upper half of the body and the ends were bent outwards and then inwards, so that the loop remained rigid rather than swivelling.

This bell measures 44.92mm in diameter,0.61 mm in thickness, 5.23g in weight.

There is a similar example from London (Egan and Pritchard, 1991, p. 339, no. 1666).
