Deutsch: Das Hans-Dietrich-Genscher-Haus (bis 2017: Thomas-Dehler-Haus) in der Reinhardstraße 14/16 in Berlin-Mitte, Sitz der Bundesgeschäftsstelle der FDP. Das Gebäude wurde 1908-1912 für den Dominikanerorden als Neubau des St. Maria-Victoria-Krankenhauses mit angeschlossenem Altenheim errichtet. Eine Spende des vermögenden Ordensunterstützers Carl Fürst zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg erlaubte die Errichtung eines stattlichen Krankenhausbaus in den Formen der deutschen Renaissance anstelle der einfachen Krankenstation, die Dominikanerinnen hier seit den 1880er-Jahren zur Armenversorgung leiteten. Architekt war Casper Clemens Pickel. Zwei übergiebelte Risalite mit Erkern dominieren die langgestreckte Klinker- und Sandsteinfassade. Zwei Relieftafeln über dem Portal erinnern an die Seeschlacht bei Lepanto, in der eine Flotte christlicher Mächte 1571 die türkische Flotte besiegte und damit in der Darstellung der älteren Geschichtsschreibung "das Abendland rettete". Schutzpatronin des Sieges war die "Heilige Maria vom Siege" ("Maria Viktoria"), nach der das Krankenhaus benannt ist. Es wurde bis 1938 betrieben, danach wurde der Komplex von Gliederungen des "Reichsnährstandes" genutzt. Bei der Umfunktionalisierung wurde eine hofseitige Kapelle abgerissen. In der DDR-Zeit war das Gebäude Sitz des Deutschen Bauernverlages der Deutschen Bauernpartei (DBD) und des Deutschen Landwirtschaftsverlages. Seit der Sanierung 1998/1999 nutzt die FDP den Komplex als Parteizentrale. Er ist als Baudenkmal gelistet. |
