Deutsch: Das "Haus der Freien Berufe" in der Reinhardtstraße 34 in Berlin-Mitte, erbaut 1907-1908 für den Arzt Wilhelm Mühsam als private Augenheilanstalt in der Nähe der Charité. Mühsam hatte die an diesem Ort befindliche Augenklinik von Julius Hirschberg übernommen und ließ den Neubau von den bekannten Architekten Breslauer & Salinger errichten (damalige Adresse: Karlstraße 36). Die nüchterne Fassade ist mit klassizistischem Bauschmuck im Stil der "Um 1800"-Bewegung versehen. Die beiden Untergeschosse sind rustiziert mit vorspringenden Klinkerstreifen. Darüber befindet sich ein Rankenfries, in das zwei Porträtmedaillons eingelassen sind. Sie zeigen zwei Pioniere der modernen Augenheilkunde: den Augenarzt Albrecht von Graefe und den Physiker Hermann von Helmholtz. Das Gebäude ist heute Sitz von Berliner Vertretungen freiberuflicher Verbände und ihrer Publikationen, so der Bundesvereinigung Deutscher Apothekerverbände, der Kassenärztlichen Bundesvereinigung, der Deutschen Ärzteschaft und des Deutschen Ärzteblattes. Außerdem sitzt hier die Zentrale des Bundesverbandes der Freien Berufe. Das Gebäude ist als Baudenkmal gelistet. |
