Description
Deutsch: Das ehemalige Warenhaus Wertheim an der Rosenthaler Straße 28-31, hier die im Gegensatz zur Hauptfassade weitgehend original erhaltene Seitenfassade an der Sophienstraße. Das Kaufhaus wurde 1903 nach einem Entwurf von Alfred Messel (in Zusammenarbeit mit Walter Schirbach) errichtet. Es ist das einzige erhaltene Beispiel von Messels architektonisch bedeutenden Bauten für Wertheim in Berlin. Das Gebäude ist als Baudenkmal gelistet.
English: The former Wertheim department store at Rosenthaler Straße No. 28-31, here the side facade on Sophienstraße, which, as opposed to the main facade, has largely been preserved in its original state. The building was constructed in 1903 to a design by Alfred Messel (in cooperation with Walter Schirbach). It is the only remaining example of the architecturally significant structures Messel built for Wertheim in Berlin. The building has been designated as a historic landmark.
