Title
Bible clasp from Abenbury.
Description
English: Copper-alloy book clasp of flat type, in the form of a plate with a slightly flared attachment end and a short cross-piece before a hook at the other. Decorated with a line of 3 dots, lines and a single ring-and-dot motif.

This type of book clasp is known from Norwich (Margeson 1993, who illustrates a dated late 16th-century parallel) and context of the mid 16th century onwards at Winchester (Biddle 1990). The type probably continues in use for at least the whole of the 17th century.
