Deutsch: "(Tätig um 1745-1750) Bildnis von Prinz Albrecht zu Braunschweig-Lüneburg-Bevern Repräsentatives, historisch bedeutendes Porträt Albrechts als Kniestück mit Darstellung des Prinzen nach halbrechts im Kürass mit Ringkragen und Uniformrock des preußischen Infanterie-(bzw. Füsilier-)Regiments 39 sowie Hermelinumhang, zu seiner linken Seite ein Helm mit Federbusch, im Hintergrund ein Reitergefecht. Identifizert werden kann der Dargestellte durch einen Kupferstich des Herzoglich Braunschweigisch-Lüneburgischen Hofmalers Johann Friedrich Kauffmann mit gleicher Komposition und Haltung der Figur, jedoch einigen abweichenden Details. Albrecht von Braunschweig-Lüneburg-Bevern (1725 -1745) war der fünfte Sohn von Herzog Ferdinand Albrecht II. (1680-1735) und jüngerer Bruder von Herzog Karl I. (1713 - 1780); er fiel kaum zwanzigjährig 1745 als preußischer Generalmajor in der Schlacht bei Soor im Zweiten Schlesischen Krieg. Der frühe Tod erklärt auch, dass kaum Bildnisse des Prinzen bekannt sind. Wahrscheinlich wurde das Gemälde kurz nach 1745 zu seinem Andenken geschaffen, worauf auch die auffällig dunklen Wolken rechts oben hinweisen dürften. Das künstlerisch qualitätvolle, die Physiognomie treffend charakterisierende Bildnis steht in der Tradition der Feldherren- und Fürstenporträts von Hyacinthe Rigaud (1659 - 1743), der die Porträtmalerei des 18. Jahrhunders in ganz Europa nachhaltig prägte. Öl/Leinwand; 144 cm x 112 cm. Rahmen. Beigefügt: Gutachten von Prof. Dr. Helmut Börsch-Supan, Berlin. Der Stich von J. F. Kauffmann befindet sich in der Porträtsammlung der Herzog August Bibliothek Wolfenbüttel (Nr. A 2276). /P/Provenienz: Deutschordenskommende/Rittergut Lucklum.."[1] |
