Waarskynlik die jong wyfie Makatsa, destyds 4 tot 5 jaar oud, wat in 2017 'n nuwe nes op die skoor van die Roodekrans gebou het. Sy het die ou wyfie Emonyeni gedurende die vorige jaar vervang, toe daar geen broeipoging was nie. Die nesvoering word met groenigheid, die blaar van 'n hoëveldse kiepersol in dié geval, aangevul. Makatsa en Thulani se eerste kuiken, die wyfie Ayanda, het op 21 Junie uitgebroei en op 27 September die nes verlaat. Ayanda het op 23 Desember 2017 uit die gebied getrek.[1]

Probably the young female Makatsa, 4 to 5 years old at the time, that built a new nest in 2017 on the "buttress" of the Roodekrans. She replaced the old female Emonyeni during the previous year, when no breeding occurred. Green sprays, a Cussonia paniculata leaf in this instance, are brought to supplement the nest lining. Makatsa and Thulani's first chick, female Ayanda, hatched on 21 June and fledged on 27 September. Ayanda left the area on 23 December 2017.
