Description |
English: Silver bodkin or headdress pin. Rectangular sectioned with pointed sides, tapering to a point, only slightly bent. Trefoil knop at top below which is a circular piercing, and a rectangular slot. There is an unclear makers mark on one side between the piercing and the slot, possibly a 'W'. Decorated alike on both sides below the piercing and makers mark with closely spaced engraved longitudinal lines which decrease in length from the centre to the edges and a transverse line above the slot, short longitudinal lines on either side of the slot, a transverse line below followed by closely spaced longitudinal lines which decrease in length from the centre to the edges. 17th century. |
