Description
Satire on the siege of Copenhagen. (British political cartoon); A satire on the capture of the Danish fleet, 7 Sept. 1807. George III repeats his pose as the king of Brobdingnag. Standing on a Martello tower, he looks through a spyglass at Admiral Gambier who tows the Danish fleet towards England. Napoleon and his allies, Spain, Germany, Holland and Russia, watch from the further shore. Talleyrand kneels behind Napoleon.; Krumbhaar 471. BMC and Krumbhaar repeat Broadley's statement that on his impression George Cruikshank noted that the coast was put in by him. On this copy a pencil note in lower right corner reads: work by G. Ck.
