Description

c/n 8649(-VE) Actual US military serial 44-85740 Demobbed in June 1947, she was modified as a freighter and registered as NL5017N. In 1949 she joined the Aero Service Corporation and flew with them on worldwide surveying work until 1962. She was then converted for spraying and was used as a fire ant bait spreader until 1978. Donated to the Experimental Aircraft Association Aviation Foundation (EAA), she was returned to stock military condition and continues to fly with them, based at Oshkosh in Wisconsin. She took part in the 2015 Arsenal of Democracy Flyover on Friday 8th May 2015 to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of VE Day and the end of WW2 and is seen taxiing in on the following Sunday while spending the day giving rides.
