Description

Vervoerders Keolis en Abellio nemen per december 2019 de exploitatie van enkele S-Bahnen van de Deutsche Bahn (DB regio) over.

Keolis gaat de S-bahn lijnen S1 and S4 rijden met de huidige DB Regio serie 422 EMUs, in een nieuwe uitdossing. Abellio neemt de S2, S28, S3, S9, RB3, RB40 en RB41 over en doet dit met splinternieuwe FLIRT XL stellen, in opdracht van het Verkehrsverbundes Rhein-Ruhr (VRR). Er komen 17 3-wagenstellen en 25 5-wagenstellen.

Inmiddels wordt er uitgebreid proef gereden, zoals we zien bij Bonn-Oberkassel , waar de trein onderweg is richting Köln.
