Title
Book clasp
Description
English: The worn and bent copper-alloy hook-piece from a post medieval book clasp. Rectangular in shape measuring c36mm in length and 23.01mm in width. It has U-shaped notches cut into either edge at its centre and small notches along its terminal edge. There are also traces of incised concentric circles at the terminal edge either side of a central rivet hole. No decoration can be seen at the hook end although there is another parallel rivet hole filled with iron corrosion, presumably the remains of the rivet. This book clasp probably dates from the mid 16th century onwards.
