Description
English: A statue of a boxer or of Apollo. There is a strip hanging from the tree trunk, which may represent a leather thong to twist around the hand to form a boxing glove, or alternatively it may be a winner's ribbon to be worn around the head. Apollo was the god of boxing and he may be represented here. Apollo was often portrayed with long hair, although this style of braided hair was also popular with athletes around 480-460 BC.

Located at the British Museum, London. Roman, 1st Century AD, after a lost Greek original about 470 BC to 460 BC.
