Description
Deutsch: Der Brückentorturm (Nummer X) ist der einzige von ursprünglich drei Türmen auf der Steinernen Brücke, der erhalten geblieben ist. Er bildete den unmittelbaren Zugang zur mittelalterlichen Stadt über die Donau. Angebaut sind im Osten der ehemalige städtische Salzstadel (1616-20) und im Westen über einen schwibbogenartigen Überbrückungsbau der ehemalige Amberger Stadel (1487, 1551 wiederhergestellt). Der Turm wurde wohl im späten 13. Jahrhundert als Teil der donauseitigen Stadtbefestigung erbaut. Das untere Stockwerk diente auch als Gefängnis, daher auch die Bezeichnung „Schuldturm“.
