Description

Brecciated magnetite-quartz-jasper meta-BIF (banded iron formation) (7.3 cm across at its widest) from the Precambrian of Wyoming, USA.

Stratigraphy: Goldman Meadows Formation, upper Mesoarchean, 2.87 Ga; metamorphism at 1.4 Ga, during the early Mesoproterozoic.

Locality: Atlantic City Iron Mine, northwestern side of Rt. 28, southwestern side of South Pass, Wind River Range, west-central Wyoming, USA.
