| Description |
This is the Fighter Collections Beaufighter restoration project. The work has all been carried out to airworthy standards, and the intention has always been that she will fly. While there are no problems with the airframe and systems, the project has been held back by a lack of useable Bristol Hercules engines. The rebuild has taken the identity of 'A19-144', an RAAF machine which was originally 'JM135' in RAF service. It is, however, a composite airframe which also includes parts of another XIC (JL946) and an Australian built Mk XXI. It is seen in the southern half of Hangar 2 at Duxford (the TFC hangar) on the weekend of the Flying Legends airshow. With most of the TFC fleet out on the ramp, some pretty clear shots of the 'Beau' project could finally be realised! 14-7-2014 |
