Summary[edit]

Description The British Museum houses parts of two carved green marble half-columns that flanked the tomb at the Treasury of Atreus. Sculpture A51, the left column, comprises a lower shaft with joint and cramp-hole, and an upper shaft with corresponding dowel holes. The left capital and abacus, along with fragments from Athens and Karlsruhe, are represented. Sculpture A52, the right column, features irregularly placed dowel holes and a missing upper joint. The right upper shaft extends to 3.793m, with fragments from Athens and Munich completing the pattern. The right capital, partially preserved, includes original fragments illustrating the lower member and chevron.
