Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Brompton Cemetery - masonic gravestone.

In loving memory of Sir Edward Letchworth who passed beyond the veil on October 8th 1917, aged 84 years. He was or 25 years the Grand Secretary of the United Great Lodge of English Freemasons. At rest. also of Mary Constance, wife of the aove died july 28th 1921 aged 70 years.

The celtic cross bears no masonic motifs. The euphemism to represent death is uncommon nowadays. The LORD told Moses to begin erecting the tabernacle on the first day of the first month (Exod.40.2). In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth and on the first day Moses set up the outer covering, the basic structure of the tabernacle (Exod.40.17-19). On the second day, God made the firmament and called it heaven and on the second day Moses set up the veil and screened the ark (Exod.40.20-21). This implies that those who passed beyond the veil and entered the sanctuary entered the first day of creation, a curious idea, but one for which there is much evidence, and one that explains how the firmament separating heaven and earth was also the temple veil on which history was depicted in the Apocalypse of Abraham www.marquette.edu/maqom/veil.html

He can be seen here in life, before he passed the veil, sporting a very fine pair of side whiskers: commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Edward_Letchworth_Vanity_...
