| Description | Smooth brome occurs in patches within the sagebrush steppe of the Big Hole National Battlefield area. This indicates a disturbance history that must have been intense or regular in occurrence. Regardless, native forbs are common among these smooth brome patches (Antennaria microphylla and Geum triflorum). Polytrichum juniperinum, juniper polytrichum moss, is the dominant ground cover at this site along with a soil crust. |
