Title
Bronze Age : Axe
Description
English: A cast copper alloy socketted axe. This axe is in very good condition, apparently still with its original colour. The axe splays evenly towards the cutting edge, which is curved and only slightly blunt. There is a solid loop on one side. There seem to be some decorative lengthways lines near the socket, and the moulding lines are clear. The socket is nearly circular and has one reinforcing band. The socket appears to have an irregular internal shape (although this could just be dirt). This axe is almost too well-preserved, and one might be wary of a hoax but for the expense of purchasing replicas! This artefact (probably) dates to the Late Bronze Age.
