Title
Bronze Age Sword Blade (fragment)
Description
English: A fragment of a cast copper-alloy sword of Late Bronze Age date (c. 1000 BC-c. 800 BC).

This fragment of a blade is sub-rectangular in plan, lozenge-shaped in cross-section and the blade is possibly stepped either side of the vertical centre-line. However, due to corrosion, it is uncertain whether it is stepped.

The blade is corroded and pitted with patches of a green patina on both faces. Each cutting edge is missing and the break at each end is old.

Height: 28.8mm; width: 32.4mm; thickness: 8.1mm. Weight: 25.90g.
