Title |
Bronze Age debitage (ventral face) |
||
Description |
English: A piece of flint debitage probably of middle/late Bronze Age date (c. 1600 - c. 800 BC). Flint, pale grey, opaque, all surfaces covered with pale orange-yellow patina. Red iron staining on both faces suggesting movement within a river. Broadly triangular in plan with one convex edge and curved corners; trapezoidal in cross-section. Tertiary working, hard hammer: the ventral face has a large bulb of percussion at the proximal end. Possible short, scaled, semi abrupt retouch on small areas of the edge of ventral face, but this may be ancient damage. Overall, the object measures 38.7 mm long, 34.7 mm wide and 11.0 mm. It weighs 14.76 g. |
