Description
English:

a shiny black bird with a brown head perched on the back of a bison

Brown-headed cowbirds are nest parasites that lay their eggs in the nests of other birds. Though they can be considered a nuisance in other parts of the country, they are right at home in Wind Cave. These birds let other birds raise their young so they can follow migrating bison herds. Cowbirds often perch on the backs of bison or hang out near their feet to catch insects scared up by the grazing bison.
