Deutsch: Schreiben (Zeugnis) von Bruno Walter an Heinrich Knauer (1907):

Wien, d. 23. Dezember 1907
Herrn Heinrich Knauer habe ich während der Zeit seines Engagements am Wiener Hofopernorchester als einen geradezu hervorragenden Pauker schätzen gelernt. Mit einem prachtvollen ff Wirbel und ebensolchen pp crescendo verbindet er musterhafte Intonation, ständige Rhythmik, Geschmack im Wechseln der Schlägel und – was ich sehr hoch schätze – famose Anpassung an die jeweilige Dynamik des Vorspielers; endlich hat er die Freude am „Ausgehen“; ein Kennzeichen des ersten Paukers. Da er außerdem von stets gleichem Eifer, Ernst, unvermütlicher Pflichttreue und bescheidenem Wesen war, so ist es mir ein Bedürfnis zu erklären, daß ich sein Scheiden von unserem Institut aufrichtig und aufs herzlichste bedauere.
