Buckle and plate
Description
English: Cast copper alloy buckle and sheet metal plate. Buckle D shaped with an off-set bar and a projecting lip on the outer edge. This is notched for the pin, which is made from 1.6mm diameter copper alloy wire. The 0.6mm thick, sheet metal plate is folded around the buckle bar and has a single 1.5mm rivet hole through its distal end. It measures 17.6 x 9.0mm. The frame has a curved outer face, its inner side is under cut. In London buckles of this form occur in contexts dating to between 1270 and 1400 (Egan and Pritchard, 1991, Fig. 45).
