For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Markendorf, Blick auf die Schule Aufn. Illus Klein 2 S 98 793 Leu 13.7.50 Ein kleines Dorf baut auf. (Markendorf, Kreis Frankfurt-Oder) Kurz vor der Stadt Frankfurt-Oder liegt die Gemeinde Markendorf, die früher nur aus den Gurtsgebäuden und den dürftigen Landarbeiterwohnungen bestand. Im Frühjahr 1945 wurde der Ort durch die Kampfhandlungen schwer zerstört. Heute ist M. fast ausschliesslich von Neubauern bewohnt und infolge der Zerstörungen herrschte z.T. bis heute eine grosse Wohnungsnot. Aus diesem Grunde wurde diese Landgemeinde zuerst in die Wiederaufbauplanung des Kreises einbezogen. Der Wiederaufbau und die geplante Neugestaltung des Kreisgebietes um Frankfurt-Oder haben hier erfolgreich begonnen. UBz: Im Park des ehemaligen Gute entsteht das Kulturzentrum des Dorfes. Hier ist das fast fertiggestellte Schulhaus, indem schon der Unterricht abgehalten wird. Die Klassenräume besitzen eine zweite Tür, die über eine Terrasse, welche noch entstehen wird, direkt in den Park führt.
