Das Geheimnis um die Duce-Befreiung gelöst
Fallschirmjäger landeten mit Lastenseglern in der Bergwildnis des Gran Sasso.
... ist das Gefängnis des Duce, ein Berghaus knapp unter dem Gipfel des Gran Sasso erreicht. Die Männer in den Seglern packen Waffen und Gerät fester. Der Flugzeugführer stösst hinab zu einer kühnen Landung auf gefährlichstem Gebirgsgelände.

Zentralbild, II. Weltkrieg 1939-4
Zur Mussolini-Befreiung am 12.9.1943 durch den SS-Sturmbannführer Otto Skorzeny aus dem Berghotel auf dem Gran Sasso in den Abruzzen. Nach seinem Sturz am 25.6.1943 wurde Mussolini durch Badoglio-Truppen auf dem Gran Sasso gefangengehalten. Skorzeny befreite ihn im Handstreich mit deutschen Fallschirmjägern, SS-Männern und Sicherheitsdienst.
