Description

Celebrating the 25th birthday of the world's first bungy jumping operation, Queenstown, New Zealand.

AJ Hackett and Henry van Asch were granted temporary consent from the Department of Conservation to set up the world’s first commercial bungy jumping operation at Queenstown’s historic Kawarau Bridge, New Zealand on this day in 1988. The launch of the Kawarau Bridge Bungy site has been hailed as the birth of adventure tourism in New Zealand, and was integral towards putting New Zealand on the world adventure tourism map.
