Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Lausanne, Switzerland.

About 100 AD

This bust was probably part of a honorary statue for an influential Helvetian, a Romanized Celt. The way the hair is worn and the beard is shaped points to a member of the military. The stylized hair and the ornamental sideburns indicated that the artist came from a Gallo-Roman province.
