English:

A broken and damaged copper alloy button dating from the early post-medieval period, c. AD1500-1650. It has a solid, hemispherical head and a integral, flat shank which used to terminate in a circular suspension loop which is now missing. There is no decoration. The button has a rough green/white patina and patches of corrosion.

Similar buttons are illustrated in Bailey, 2004, Buttons and Fasteners 500BC - 1840, page 23, numbers 7.5 and 7.6.
