Title |
button (face) |
||
Description |
English: Cast copper alloy one-piece button, circular in plan and slightly stepped in profile, with an integral fastening loop at the back. The face of the button is decorated with a central raised circle, incised with a five-petalled flower backed with five pointed leaves. The petals have parallel incised lines running transversely through them. The rosette is surrounded by a recessed border followed by a raised border, both concentric, following the edge of the button. The back of the button has the base of the copper alloy attachment loop, but the rest of the loop is missing.
Read (2005) illustrates a similar example on page 79, No.324, which is dated from the 17th century. |
