Description |
English: PH Coll 584.7 The Olympian was a side-wheeler steamship that was built in 1883 in Delaware. The following year it was used by the Oregon Railway and Navigation Company for service from Seattle to Victoria until 1886 when it switched to running the Columbia River route. The Olympian was returned to its Puget Sound routes shortly after and was known for not withstanding the Pacific Northwest's environment and conditions. Around 1906 the ship was planning a trip to the East Coast where its owners believed it would perform better but was wrecked along the way. |
