A type 1 penny of Robert the Bruce, probably minted in the early 1320s after the capture of Berwick in 1318, when Scotland became stable enough to start producing its own coinage.

Obverse:- Profile image of Robert facing left with fleur-de-lis topped sceptre. Legend '+ROBERTVS: DEI: GRA'

Reverse:- A long cross with a five pointed, hollow centred star in each crutch. Legend around 'SCOTORUM REX +'
