Nederlands: Hondogo was een Ujamaa dorp. Ujamaa is een Swahili term en betekent 'uitgebreide familie', 'familieschap', waarin een individu pas echt mens wordt en goed kan functioneren via de mensen (gemeenschap) om hem heen. Dit principe werd door de president van Tanzania, Julius Nyerere, als basis genomen voor zijn nationale politiek van economische ontwikkeling en hervorming. In 1967 publiceerde Nyerere zijn ideeën als de 'Arusha Declaration' waarin hij de noodzaak van een Afrikaans ontwikkelingsmodel toelichtte wat tevens de basis vormde van het Afrikaanse socialisme. |
