Nederlands: Deze houten schalmei (dubbelriet) heeft 7 vingergaten in het rechte gedeelte en 7 klankgaten (3+2+2) in het trechtervormige gedeelte. Er zijn in totaal 3 rieten: 1 ervan is in het klanklichaam gestoken, twee losse reserve-exemplaren zijn met touwtjes hieraan bevestigd. Elk riet is in een koperen cylindertje geschoven; halverwege bevindt zich een messingen plaatje, terwijl het cylinderdeel eronder (de stop) is omwikkeld met dun touw. Verder zitten met touwtjes vast aan het klanklichaam: een klemmetje van 2 aan elkaar gebonden stokjes, waarschijnlijk om de rieten in vast te zetten zodat ze niet beschadigd raken, en een houten pennetje, dat dient om de rieten te openen als ze aan elkaar kleven.
Om het instrument op te bergen is er een foudraal. Dor een speciale techniek (zg. 'circular breathing') kan de speler ademhalen onder het spelen, zonder het instrument uit de mond te nemen, en op die manier een ononderbroken geluid voortbrengen. (Volgens de literatuur zitten er bij dit soort instrumenten in het trechtervormige gedeelte 3 + 2 = 5 klankgaten.) |
