Nederlands: Een Samo man is bezig een ritueel uit te voeren waarmee de groei van het gewas moet worden bevorderd. Hiertoe offert hij een kip.
De opname is gemaakt tijdens één van de twee verzamelexpedities die het Tropenmuseum in 1970-1971 ondernam ter voorbereiding op de grote tentoonstelling in 1971-1972, getiteld 'Samo. Een Afrikaans Savannevolk in ontwikkeling'. De expedities duurden elk drie maanden en werden uitgevoerd door de heren J.T. Broekhuijse en F.M. Cowan. Een stadium uit dit ritueel staat ook afgebeeld in de catalogus bij de hierboven genoemde tentoonstelling met het bijschrift 'Zowel bij het regenritueel ... als bij het ritueel voor de groeikracht ... van het gewas wordt een kip geofferd' (1971: 10 en 13). |
