Description |
Nederlands: Het wichelbotje wordt gebruikt door de "witchdoctor" tijdens het definiëren van ziektebeelden en het voorspellen van de toekomst. De wichelinstrumenten bestaan uit stukjes bot, hout en schelpen en worden bewaard in een tasje (zie 3674-10).
De "witchdoctor" is een ritueel genezer die middels het werpen van wichelinstrumenten een diagnose stelt en adviezen geeft voor verdere behandeling. Hij wordt ingeschakeld bij ziekten en tegenslagen. Zo wil men van hem weten waar een lichamelijke aandoening vandaan komt of wie en wat verantwoordelijk is voor bepaalde tegenslagen in het leven, zoals een mislukte oogst of werkeloosheid. Bepalend voor de uitspraak zijn de manier waarop de wichelinstrumenten vallen (welke kant boven of onder ligt), de richting waarin ze vallen en de positie die ze t.o.v. elkaar innemen. |
