  • Significance: Camp Hofnung, originally known as John Orr's Ford, the property is the location of the original road bed and Ford Crossing of the Creek by the major roads leading from Philadelphia north to the Burham Iron Furnace and Easton. A tavern operated here from the 1740s to the 1760s under the ownership of John Orr and his heirs, ceasing soon after the bridge was built in 1767. Subsequent owner, Ralph Stover, a prominent Pennsylvania Assemblyman established his home and a working farm here...
