Description |
English: A rusted metal step from a carriage Can you tell what this week’s #MuseumMonday object is? It was found during the stabilization project of the Mesnard Street Car Station. Located just within what would become a part of the Quincy Mining Company’s empire, Mesnard was home to a mine of the same name, now known as Quincy #8. The street car station was a part of the Houghton County Traction Company Railway, located on the route from Houghton to Red Jacket. However, this object belongs to a carriage or buggy, not a train. This metal step would connect to the carriage by the three-pronged back bracket. There is no maker’s mark and the manufacturer is unknown. Where do you think this carriage step may have come from? |
